Song to listen to and be inspired by while reading this book: Do You Really Wanna Be In Love, by Frigga.
I don't know if I can link to the song on YouTube for copyright issue, so just google it.
Frigga's sultry voice perfectly expressed the woman's desperation to hold onto the love but disappointment in herself for holding onto the said love. She wanted to give up but she was still asking him, hoping against hope that he’d say something. But he never did.
When I first heard of this song, one image popped into my head: a dark alleyway with one way in and no way out. A streetlamp with dim light covered in mist. A man, alone.
I immediately had two stories in my head: a heartbroken man, or a noir detective.
Then it occurred to me. I already had the story since high school. A detective heartbroken over a vampire. So I started writing I Take Thee while listening to this song. It completely fit; only the roles were reversed in the story. It was the man asking the woman the question "Do You Really Wanna Be In Love". She really didn't know how to love, and she made lots of mistakes. She regretted them and tried to make up. But, sometimes it was too late.
Math Teacher introduced me to this song. Funny thing was, the YouTube video he showed me was a comedy, and they used this song in the background (the music started at 3:00). I didn't find the video funny, but I was immediately hooked on the song.
